GVEP welcomes two new trustees to the board

GVEP is proud to welcome two new members, Linda Mabhena-Olagunju and Andrew Yager, to its Board of Trustees.

Linda is the managing director of DLO Energy Resources Group, an energy company owned wholly by women, with a portfolio of wind and solar energy projects in South Africa. She was the winner of the Forbes Women Africa Best Emerging Entrepreneur 2015 award and her company was recognised as the most innovative black business at the Black Business Quarterly awards.

She has been recognised by ESI as 1 of the 50 Most Influential People in the African Power Sector and in 2014 she featured in Oprah’s Power List among the 20 most powerful women in Africa. Linda is a WEF Global Shaper and a member of the committee charged with advising the Minister of Energy in South Africa. She is also an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

Andrew is Program Manager at Multiconsult ASA, a leading multidisciplinary, publicly traded, Norwegian engineering consultancy. He served as Officer-in-Charge of the Water, Energy and Strategies Branch at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs during 2009-2011.

As Secretary to UN-Energy, Andrew was instrumental in development of the SE4ALL initiative. He also served as resident renewable energy advisor to the SADC Energy Sector in Luanda during 1989-1993. Andrew recently completed a six-year term on the Board of Directors of Engineers-without-Borders USA.

He is currently an advisor to both the Norwegian and Swedish embassies supporting policy development and rural energy project implementation on Zanzibar and in Mainland Tanzania. Andrew obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1984.
